"Winter shoes for winter running. I'm not sure what the running shoe companies are thinking, but a fair number of us in the Northeast actually do run outside through the winter. Try and find waterproof running shoes, though, and you'll quickly see that trail shoes are marketed mostly for those who apparently run only Western states or hard rock, shoes that certainly have rugged soles but are designed to be open and draining. Great if you're into stream crossing, not so good if you're running in temperatures below freezing and more than a dusting of snow. These Nikes fit the bill nicely. Waterproof, windproof (waterproof + windproof = warm in winter!), aggressive treads to provide some grip in slippery conditions. My feet are happy, and I'm happy!"
